I’m away from home, and knew that internet access would be scarce this week, but assumed I could pop into a café here and there and make a quick post. And I could, hypothetically speaking, but the café in the next town over with the free wifi closed at 6 o’clock.
I asked the girl at the ice cream shop next door if she knew where I could find wifi and she said, I am not making this up, “What’s wifi?”
Alrightythen.
I guess I won’t be around much this week.
Which is a good thing, right? We all need to take a technology break every now and then, right? (She says huddled over her laptop while sitting on the sidewalk outside of a fancy inn that she isn't staying at...)
I’m sure the twitching will stop any day now.

Llama Momma,
I hope your withdrawal symptoms aren't too bad. Have a great time.
Otto
How do you not know what wifi is? Seriously what is this world coming to!
What a boor! Everyone knows wifi is what happens when your child goes too long without having a diaper change.
"Oh man, I better change this child, he is TOTALLY WIFI!"
That woman needs to get learnd.
drive-by wifi
:-)
Oh, you make me laugh! :) [twitch]
Yeh - we just did a 1300 mile drive in 29hrs - needed to book a hotel and couldn't find a panera anywhere on the road. When we finally did - it had closed 10 minutes before. But, since they had not turned off their signal, there we sat in the parking lot, "dragging". Can you imaging the embarassement when the manager knocked on the window and said we were perfectly welcome to get out and sit on the patio to use the wifi. I explained our situation and she kindly told me what towns would be good to "hotels.com" - and she was right! We turned out to have a perfectly fine hotel for a very cheap price - with free wifi. But I still felt like a thief sitting in the parking lot in the dark in the car with my laptop running on its battery!
Hi Llama Momma,
I tagged you with a meme over at TeamHsu.blogspot.com
It does subside, eventually . . . but the going cold turkey does help.
Have fun!
And the funny thing is, everytime I'm on a trip and without access for a few days, I come home to find I didn't miss anything much.
You're making me twitch just thinking about it! I am taking a laptop with me to Africa in hopes that I can put up an occasional post, but I'm not optomistic...
Cell phone coverage in Africa- no problem! Internet? Not so much...
Realistically, I'm probably looking at ONE.WHOLE.MONTH.WITH.NO.INTERNET!
Oho -- In the end, it turned out to be a nice break.
Kelsey -- I know. I KNOW!!!
Marmot Mom -- Okay, this made me laugh! :-)
Nancy -- Is this where I confess to driving through a small town with my laptop open, hoping to pick up a signal somewhere????
LL -- Admitting I have a problem is the first step of recovery...right?? ;-)
Halfmom -- great story!
Ellen -- I'll stop by and check it out. Thanks!
SP -- By day three, the twitching had stopped. ;-)
Mommy Cracked -- Exactly. It all just goes on...and the break is nice!
FrazzMom -- You'll be fine. By the end of the first week you'll be asking -- what's wifi? ;-)
omgosh,,,that is so funny!! I certainly know how you feel. I feel so out of pocket if I haven't checked my email or blog in a couple of hours,,,,,,hope you had a great vacation! Leigh-NC
