aaawwwww...

Last night after I sent the noisy boys up to bed, I peeked in on them to tuck them in. I overheard Twin B talking to his new stuffed dogs (a mom and a baby dog). "Come and join the family," he said, "Here's your place right here, next to Zebra. There, now isn't that cozy?" He must have fifteen stuffed animals on his bed, but they each have a special place!

So, so sweet.

As a kid, I never did the stuffed animal thing or even a “binky;” I just didn’t get it. Nevertheless, I try to be sensitive as I watch my own kids attach deep sentimental value to these kinds of things. (Just stuffed toys—no binkies.)

Last year, I thought I heard my smallest one address me by my first name and speak to me as if I was his child. I turned and looked at him as I considered how I should respond, and discovered that he was not talking to me at all! His newest and favorite stuffed animal was given (by him) my own first name. Aw, shucks; bless his little heart!

My son used to sleep with cars - Hot Wheels, Tonkas, anything cars and trucks. I feel sorry for his wife!

What sweetness.

About your comment over on Seedlings, yes, you can tell Linda I thought the book was quite entertaining. Her spirit definitely came through! I'm thinking she was a big source for many of those wonderful little stories?

I haven't read it yet! My husband and I are big fans of IVP, and I mentioned over dinner the book you are reading since I knew it would be interesting to both of us. He commented, "Hey, didn't LD write that? I think I remember her working on it a few years back." Sure enough.

She'll be tickled that she is a topic of blog conversation!
