first words

Baby b. has been babbling for awhile now, but outside of the occasional "Mom," hasn't said any real words. Until today. We were touring a fitness facility, walking by the outdoor swimming pool when he excitedly pointed and exclaimed, "NACK!" We were walking right by the snack bar.

He's a boy after my own heart.

I'm sure he was just asking for a whole wheat bagel with low fat cream cheese and a soy smoothie ;-)

R-I-G-H-T! I'm sure that's what he was referring to. At the swimming pool snack bar that sells nachos and ice cream. :-)

They sell nachos and ice cream at a fitness facility snack bar? Now that's just wrong. . .but good business, perhaps?

SP - I was surprised by this, too! Though, actually, baby b. is just going by looks -- and that snack bar looked exactly like our neighborhood snack bar, which is pretty much just ice cream and candy. :-)

I did join. The childcare looks AWESOME. And, for me, it's all about the childcare...

Ava says cracker and bread. Bread? Really? She loves it though, so I think it became really important to her that she could request it. I am sure if we said snack more often she would join in a chant with B. They could just be friends who eat together, since they have already started sharing.

The other day, my daughter was bemoaning the fact that there was yet another poisoned spinach recall in CA. That's when it hit me: When is the last time you heard about a donut being recalled? A cupcake? Cookie? Bear claw? I thought so. It seems p-r-e-t-t-y clear that the poison scares are just around VEGETABLES. Just another way God is reaching out to us trying to say: "More! More! Eat more carbohydrates!" B. may be just a baby, but he is obviously a child of extraordinary intelligence and good taste, (yes, pun intended :)))

emily -- even at this young age, they know...it's all about the food! And your girl is SERIOUSLY advanced with all of her words.

(Lurkers should know that these babies were born just days apart from eachother and hang out in the church nursery together...)

Marmot Mom -- Excellent point. I think this should be a lesson to us all!!

Georgia Mom -- He is a super cute baby. I don't know how many times I've almost broken my "no pictures on the blog" policy to show the world my darling baby b...but you'll just have to imagine a smiling, ice cream loving, round faced baby chirping, "NACK!" ;-)

If you had gone one more day without posting I was filing a missing persons report. Missed your wit.
