perspective

Me, after looking out the window at the snow and freezing rain: "Holy cow! When will spring arrive?" Melancholy coffee time, wondering how many more days until we can walk to the park.

Twin A, looking out the same window thirty minutes later: "Cool! Isn't the snow beautiful, Mom? Can we cuddle up under a blanket?"

Twin B, an hour later, looking out the same window: "Awesome! Snow! Can we go outside? Hey, A., did you see the snow? Maybe we could go SLEDDING and have hot chocolate! Mom, can we go outside?"

The noisy boys were so excited they could hardly contain themselves. Never mind that it's April and our bikes are waiting in the garage while they try to make snowballs out of slush.

My children have so much to teach me, if I slow down long enough to listen.

Oh to view the world through the eyes of a child! Then again, my child (#3) recently declared to a deacon in our church "I used to eat my boogers, but I don't anymore!"...
Enjoy the sweet and precious ages while they last and always keep your sense of humor! Love, Frazzmom...

Spring is here now along with the Sun so I will bottle a little warmth up for you and put it on an overnight Express!

I love that. I was thinking a similar thought about my daughter. When I have my sunglasses on and look at her, she tells me to take them off. She wants to see my eyes. When I've been on the computer too long, she comes up to me and says "close" and pushes the laptop shut. Wise words.

Oh, and I guess you don't want me to tell you that it's been 74 here today...

Read your blog entry before making the slow drive through the country in the blizzard—was inspired to make a snowman with my little smiley-girl when I arrived home (after we shovelled six inches off of the driveway)

Thanks! Make a snow angel LM!

Martin - thanks! I'll take any and all of the sunshine I can get! Just no honey...

SP - Oh, yay for you! Warmth! And children have a way of teaching us, don't they? Gentle and direct.

23 - Whoa, you really got hit! It snowed and slushed and rained here, but there was never enough to make anything good. A few snowballs, that's about it. Enjoy this (hopefully) last blast of winter!!

I love those boys of yours! It was good for me to read of their enthusiasm for the winter weather. I've been longing for Spring a little too much down here.

I'm right there with you, Charity...longing for Spring. And the boys are good for me too. They're young and forgetful, always needing to be reminded what day it is...preschool day? Library day? This creates an enthusiasm for the moment. They have no expectations when they get up -- just the question, "What's today, Mama?" Oh, if we could all look to our heavenly father with the same trusting question, "What's today, God? What do you have for me today?"
