overwhelmed

Baby b. and I are back from our whirlwind trip. It was grueling. I'm exhausted. But I am so glad I went. The time with my grandpa was sacred. When he opened his eyes and saw baby b. grinning at him, he smiled. That moment was worth the six-plus hours I spent on a delayed flight with a baby on my lap. We moved grandpa home yesterday, to the medical center in the retirement community that he and Grandma live in. Hospice is keeping him comfortable, and he is surrounded by people who love him. He is at peace and ready to go home.

I have so much to say, but tonight isn't the time to say it. I'm off to bed, only to get up early tomorrow, pack again, and get on a plane to Sedona, Arizona. My husband and I will celebrate ten years of marriage on Thursday. God is good.

Wonderful to hear of your time with your grandfather. You'll always remember and treasure that. And someday you'll remember again, together.

I look forward to seeing my Grandpa B. again. And I regret the times I was too "busy" as a teenager and young adult to visit one as they wanted me to. But with the Lord there's forgiveness so we can go on and do better.

And congrats on you and your husband's tenth!

Thank you, Ted! I am so grateful for the time with my grandfather as well. To hear one more time, "I'm so proud of you, kid," and to express my love and gratefulness to him for being such an important part of my life. And, of course, to introduce him to his fourth great grandchild...priceless.

God is gracious. And we can look forward to eternity, more and more as we get older and find our real treasure there.

Peace.

Ten years... just a beginning... here's to many more, full of joy and contentment.

I like, too, the expressions between baby and grandpa... one generation touching the other.
