ka-boom
This was a wedding present. One of my favorites, actually. It’s one of those casserole carrier things that can keep a hot dish hot (or cold) on the way to a potluck. I’ve used it more times than I can count.
Last week, I was rushing around, getting ready for our MOPS meeting, and I heard a pop.
More like an explosion.
It was the microwave insert for my casserole carrier. I was heating it up to keep my egg bake warm, and then, POOF.
The toddler was impressed. “LOUD!”
What does it mean when a gift you got for your wedding explodes? It has been almost twelve years, but still.
Thankfully, our marriage is in better shape than some of the gifts.

I did that to ours too when we got a new microwave that was more powerful than our old one. Good thing I had a spare (we got both the 9x13 and the round one, though the round one has been used seldom as it is absolutely huge).
One bonus for the 9x13 carrier is that it is a great way to transport a couple bottles of chilled wine. I think I've used it more for that than as a casserole carrier.
It just means it's time for a new insert. :) We got one of those too and do you know I've never used the tote bag to it? I always just cover my dish with foil for transport. I'm weird like that.
Oh, I have a couple of those, and I love them! Pretty crazy about the insert, though. Did it make a huge mess everywhere? What's inside, anyway?
Better not to know what is inside...
You've been married ELEVEN years?? I had no idea we'd met you just moments after you two llamas were wed!
Time flies when you're having fun.
We just celebrated 26 last month. Holy Cow, I still can't believe my parents were irresponsible enough to let me get married when I was eight...
Wilyhacker -- good to know!
Mommycracked -- you should try the insert. It really keeps things piping hot! (and I never even considered I could buy a replacement...I am so looking for one!)
SP -- Actually, no huge mess. It just popped and left a big hole, but the insides stayed inside. It was some foamy looking thing in there...
Marmot Mom -- Our first visit to CBC was the weekend after we got married. :-)
I always wondered if people liked those carrier deals!
oh my lord i am laughing out loud so hard...picturing your little one going "loud", your face at the explosive noise, the fact that the thing exploded period - all of this is creating much hilarity for me today - sorry its at your, and your casserole inserts, expense!
Llama Momma,
You are a great story teller, funny.
Even in these tough economic times, I now have to have a casserole carrier. you are ruining my budget.
