giving things up for lint

"Did you ask your friend what he might like for his birthday?" I ask Twin A. as he munches a bagel after soccer practice.

"Yes. I think he'd really like some new football cards." He says.

"Doesn't he have a pretty big collection already?"

"Well, yeah. But he said he had to give them up for lint."

This is the best Lent post I've read all season! I can just imagine what Twin A must be seeing in his little mind - his friend handing over those cards and receiving a ball of dryer lint instead. How funny!

A. really did think his friend traded a pile of cards for a ball of lint. When I explained what lent was, he said, "ohhhhhh! That makes sense!"

I haven't done a great job educating my boys on the religious calendar...obviously! :-p

This is hysterical! First time visitor -I am distressed to see that your weekly blogging came at a different season in your life. I'm late to the party - but will have to do more digging to find these nuggets of lint and nachos!
