The noisy boys love first grade. I love first grade. The house is quiet with just me and the toddler, but hey, I’m adjusting.
Today we went for a walk with a Mom in our neighborhood after dropping the noisy boys off, then took a trip to the library. Just the two of us. And can I just say this out loud? I love just having my toddler with me and going to the library and hanging out. It feels so easy.
Not that the noisy boys aren’t a joy because they are. But. Well. I’m really enjoying just having one child at home during the day.
Oh, and for the record? It’s only day five of school and I’ve already screwed something up. (Besides the school supplies…I’m not counting that because hardly anybody gets that entirely right.)
Nope. It’s the note in the lunchbox thing. A few days ago, Twin B. asked if I could sometimes put a note in his lunchbox because some of the other kids get notes from their Moms and he would really like that.
(I love that my child feels comfortable enough to just ask for what he wants from me. Love it.)
So this morning while I was packing lunches, I wrote a note to Twin A. and tucked it in his lunchbox. I packed Twin B.’s lunch, poured myself some coffee…and, well, this afternoon when I picked the kids up, Twin A. thanked me for the nice note in his lunch.
Um. Yeah.
I assured Twin B. that his special day is coming…tomorrow!

I am not sure if my comment worked. I will try it again.
Welcome to my life. Do you think I will sit there and dream of the days of one child? Like remembering that it used to be so much easier? I am sure I will since I have witnessed the disdain that parents of multiple children have for the ones who only have one and still complain about the amount of work a child is or how hard it is to get out of the house.
emily -- it's not disdain, my friend...it's jealousy plain and simple!! ;-)
(Though, honestly, if I had ONE first, I probably wouldn't have seen it that way...)
Maybe I should change this blog title? I am totally NOT trying to offend my friends who just have one!!!
Okay, changed the title. :-)
Sorry, but I had to laugh a little at your "faux pas." As a twin myself, I know all about the tit-for-tat that happens when there's two little people. :)
The best part is that 1st grade is ALL DAY! 6 hours- woo hoo!
Oh, and for future reference- evidently it's NOT cool to get a note from your mom once you hit 5th grade and up.
Not that I know that from personal experience or anything. I would never be that un-cool of a mom...
Ummmm... Yeah.
Aww!! haha!! Not laughing AT you....I know it must be so crazy sometimes having three. Glad you and the little one are enjoying your days together. That's some good "special times".
Stacey -- Our current motto is: it doesn't always come out even every day. (Especially true on b-day party days when one is invited and the other isn't!)
FrazzMom -- 6 and a HALF hours, but who's counting? ;-) (And I'll make a mental note about the 5th grade thing...yeah, there's a learning curve to this mommy thing!!)
Mommy Cracked -- I'm loving the special time with my toddler!!
lunches with notes...very cool!
Nancy -- I know...very fun!
Oh, that cracks me up - Thanks for the laugh.
In two years I will be sending my noisy boys off to school and it will just be me and a toddler. It seems like they have gotten noisier since there sister headed off to Kindergarten last week, making that day something to look forward to. For now, I will just enjoy the noise!
Isnt one just so easy after three especially twins! One more year one more year haha
What a fun, special time with you and the toddler. :)
Even though it was on accident, I think it's kind of cool that one might get a note one day, and the other a different day. Makes it a little more special.
Megs -- It's amazing how you just get used to the noise of lots of kids running around...and then...quiet. It's a beautiful thing!
Kelsey -- Yes. YES!
SP -- I agree. And I am thoroughly enjoying the one-on-one with my toddler!!
The noisy boys are in school all day?
There is only one toddler in the house?
Does he take a nap?
(Quick, someone hide the chocolate!)
